A few years ago someone said to me, "you need to teach lessons on how to be a badass feminist." We both laughed, but that request kept coming and our community kept growing and I found from spending quality time with the Boise Rad Fat Collective in real life that we are stronger together. That we are our own best teachers. That together we learn our voices our powerful, our bodies are amazing, and our spirits are courageous.

We held our first one in the summer of 2017 and I'm so excited to announce the 4th annual RADCAMP: A Body Positive Boot Camp For Feminists in the beautiful mountain town of Garden Valley, Idaho at a members private property July 24-26, 2020. The food will be delicious, the hot springs are waiting, the agenda is gearing up to be fun and radical and full of self-love.

WHAT IS RADCAMP ALL ABOUT?

Empowering women to be their own badass, an everyday hero, a radical feminist, a body image activist, an enlightened academic, a kinder person and a warrior for self-love. With a little bit of wine, laughter, swimming, art, relaxation, yoga, meditation, education, books, hot springs, good food and fun mixed in. It’s also a stellar deal. Included in the modest registration fee is:

  • 6 full meals + drinks (alcoholic and non)

  • A packed agenda with some amazing self-love activities

  • Art projects

  • Unlimited access to Amy’s expertise, training & experience for nearly 72 hours

  • Yoga & meditation each morning led by the magnificent Jenn Crawford of Zen Riot Studio

  • Admission to Terrace Lakes hot springs pool

  • Some sweet swag

  • Accommodations

  • A fantastic body positive guidebook

  • Friends for life

  • A new perspective

(Also: check out this time we were featured in FabUplus magazine and also on the news!)

WHO CAN ATTEND?

Registration is very limited (12) and only open to members of the Boise Rad Fat Collective (which, by the way, is open to everyone regardless of size, age, nationality, religion, gender, ability and location - just ask for an add on Facebook). You do have to be at least 21-years-old to come to this camp, as we'll have alcohol on site and are staying two nights. RADCAMP is only open to women, due to the accommodations and subject matter.

TELL ME MORE ABOUT THOSE ACCOMMODATIONS?

We'll be staying on the private property of my RADCAMP assistant and one of our beloved Rad Fatties, Melisa, in a secluded spot outside the quaint mountain town of Garden Valley less than 1 hour outside of Boise. In true old-school camp style, we'll be in close quarters sharing tents and one bunk room and sharing 1 bathroom and a porta-potty and a few minor kitchen duties together as a way to celebrate food and community. There are three spots available for sharing a room with bunkbeds inside the small cabin for $160 each (UPDATE: SOLD OUT IN FIRST FOUR HOURS) and the remaining 9 spots are $140 for outside tent sleeping. (Please note: once paid no refunds can be given. And this should be obvious re: camping, but there is no air conditioning and it can be hot in the summer. And while there is running water in the house, you should be prepared to use the porta potty outside as the plumbing cannot handle the large capacity.) We’ll have a few tents to use, but you’ll need to bring your own air mattress/cot and are also welcome to bring your own small private tent if desired. It's going to be like a giant big girl slumber party rustic camp out all weekend long (two nights and nearly three days). You are responsible for your own transportation to and from the camp, although last year many of us carpooled together. We have access to the Payette River as well and a fire pit and a perfect forested landscape for yoga & meditations with Jenn of Zen Riot. It’s pretty dreamy.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING?

Once accepted to RADCAMP you'll receive more details from Amy, including a packing list & details, but in general: yourself, your bathing suit, bedding, any personal items, any special food items, good walking/hiking shoes, a beach towel and an open-mind (please leave at home: all illegal drugs, firearms/weapons, pets and your kids).
